Earlier this year, our Children's Council read a book together as part of their work around children's ministry at Green Street Church. The book had a line in it that was really a throwaway but which stuck with our folks. It said that by middle school, kids should know "the story." This got us wondering: do our kids know the story? What is the story, anyway? And how does the way we tell "the story" make a difference in our life together?
So, this fall, we're focusing on the theme of story--God's story, our story as a church, and our individual stories. In our worship services starting September 10, we'll start at creation and lift up some major themes and characters in the Old Testament leading up to Advent. We'll keep telling the story of Green Street Church in concert with God's story, and we'll invite you to share your stories. Come out on 3rd Sundays for Story Share events on a given theme and bring a story, poem, song, work of art, or object to show or tell. Join a Connecting Group for a chance to share and receive stories as you build relationships with other folks at church in a small group setting. And we'll continue to strive to tell the whole story of our time and place through our Anti-Racism programs and more.
